Nominate A Writer

Nominate A Writer
Facing the darkness of this new presidency, I want to offer my own unique gift to this country. And since this country is about to get harder to live in for almost everybody, I want to support people who are already working to help women, economically vulnerable folks, people of color, immigrants, Muslims, queers, HIV-positive and disabled folks, and sex workers. This is what I know to do: support writers. Better yet, arouse them, uplift them to do what they do, better and with more ease. H......

The best thing I did for my writing this week...

The best thing I did for my writing this week...
The best thing I did for my writing this week was get on the San Francisco ferry. Maybe it was the spontaneity or the efficiency of it. Maybe it was the lights on the bridge. It made me very happy to be out on the bay on a clear night. Walking home, I worked out a structure problem in an essay and a math problem in my business. Writing is a craft, an art. Sexy as F*ck: Interview with Poet JP Howard
“Anyone who has ever been in love, who has ever loved at all costs, who has been screwed over, who has screwed someone else over, who has forgiven themselves, or anyone who is still learning to love themselves will love this new project,” JP Howard tells me. She’s talking about the debut of her new project at Lava's Night of Renegades this Saturday night, October 22, 2016, at 8pm, in Brooklyn, NY. The event brings together artists to share genre-bending works in progress: dance, theatre, co......

The Folsom Street Fair Salon

The Folsom Street Fair Salon
We didn't know how this party would turn out. There are lots of reasons to flake on a 95-degree Folsom Street Fair Sunday: the heat, the naked bodies down the street, the crowds, the traffic. The world’s largest leather event, the Folsom Street Fair springs from the loins of old-school queer SoMa agencies like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, whose mission includes believing that, “all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty and use humor and irreverent wit to exp......
